Youth Section
Young sailors, windsurfers and anglers are welcome to take part in Club activities and where time permits and volunteers are available, special youth events will be organised.
For water based activities, all you need is a water proof top and leggings, tracksuit or shorts, sweater, towel and trainers (which you don't mind getting wet!) We can provide you with a buoyancy aid and a fun day or evening on the water.
This is what the Youth section says about their activities:
"Weather permitting we sail most Wednesday and Friday evenings, some Saturdays, and can take part in Club racing on Sundays."
"Pagham Yacht Club offers a wide range of water sport activities with the focus on sailing. All these opportunities are on offer to all members and it’s great to see lots of people on the water."
"On Wednesdays and Fridays we can have over 12 boats on the water. We also cater for a wide range of abilities from novice to more experienced. If you don’t own a boat of your own the club has plenty of Toppers and single-handed Lasers which can be used by the Youth Section and all members."
"We cover a wide range of skills with the Youth Section, which include a balance between the RYA syllabus, seamanship skills and having lots of fun!!! In the summer we spend as much time having fun on the water as possible. Then on the winter nights when we are unable to get on the water, we learn the theory behind sailing and other seamanship skills that are applicable to sailing, powerboating and yachting on the sea. All while having as much fun as possible!!!"
"We don’t just sail at Pagham either; we have been invited to sail at other sailing clubs along the south coast e.g. Arun, Bognor and Felpham. We also go on visits to local and occasionally not so local attractions, for example: Portsmouth Dockyards, Chessington World Of Adventures and Selsey Lifeboat Station. With that in mind we also sail to other places like Bognor, Felpham and Selsey."
"Pagham Yacht Club tries to maintain a friendly, inclusive atmosphere that is essential to having fun and learning. When you have learnt the basics of sailing there are plenty of people with boats of their own that often require crews. Many of them are only too happy to take younger members out and teach them a little more about how to sail and race effectively."
As with all other areas of the Club, we are entirely reliant on Club Members to run the Youth section. Without volunteers to help rig boats, crew safety boats or simply supervise, none of the above is possible. How about joining in and making PYC even more of a fun place for the youth members?

Special Events
How about a trip to Chessington World of Adventures or the Boat Show; or meeting the crew of a lifeboat or a spot of deep sea fishing? All we need are your ideas, the support of volunteers and we will take care of the organisation.
